Arachuvitta kuzhambu recipe- Famous Indian Recipes – kuzhambu recipes

How to prepare Arachuvitta Kuzhambu recipe?

Arachuvitta Thakkali Kuzhambu a Tamilnadu special recipe and one of my favorite recipe. we can serve this kuzhamby recipe with Idli, dosa, chapati and hot rice.

Ingredients:

For grinding:

  • Oil – 2 spoons
  • Small onion – 1 cup (cleaned)
  • Garlic – 3 no’s
  • Red chili – 4 no’s
  • Bengal gram – 3 tsp
  • Coriander seeds – 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Tamarind – a small piece
  • Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
  • Grated coconut – ½ cup
  • Tomato (Big) – 2 no’s (chopped)
  • Curry leaves – few

For seasoning:

  • Oil – 2 spoons
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
  • Big onion – 1 (sliced)
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Salt as needed
  • Water as needed

Steps to grind masala:

  1. First switch on the stove and place a frying pan, when it is heated add oil; next add small onion fry for 3 minutes in a medium flame.
  2. Now add garlic, red chili and tamarind fry for 2 minutes.
  3. Next add Bengal gram, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fry till it become golden brown in colour.
  4. After that add turmeric powder, grated coconut fry for a minute, then add chopped tomato and finally curry leaves then fry for a minute.
  5. Allow it to cool down then transfer in to mixer grinder and add little amount of water and grind well. (Not a fine paste)

Steps to cook Arachuvitta  kuzhambu recipe:

  1. In a heavy bottom pan add oil when it is heated add mustard seeds and it is splutters add sliced onion and curry leaves.
  2. Now add grinded masala, salt and water.
  3. Mix well the kuzhambu and allow it to boil for 5 to 9 minutes till the raw smell disappear.
  4. In this time check the salt and adjust water level you needed.
  5. Don’t add too much water, maintain kuzhambu consistency.
  6. Now simple and tasty Kongunadu Arachuvitta  Thakkali kuzhambu is ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Arachuvitta Thakkali Kuzhambu is side dish for idly, dosa and rice.
  • This kuzhambu recipe is different from other recipes like sambar, vatha kuzhambu variety.
  • It is a simple recipe instead of Bengal gram you can also use roasted gram (pottu kadalai).
